I have never understood the assertion that Sheldon’s asexuality precludes the show pairing him with Penny (or anyone) - because, like, wouldn’t that be the entire comedic point of doing it in the first place? The 40-Year Old Virgin is a story about an asexual being groping his way around the bags of sand of romantic life. Plus, the other characters on the show are constantly trying to cut Sheldon’s ego off at the knees re: his scientific arrogance - often to painfully “whyyyyyy are you even still friends with this guy?” proportions, that it would actually be a far more satisfying resolution to have that ego temperance come from THIS instead. (Because this involves making out.)

I KNOW, I love seeing Sheldon in situations where he’s uncomfortable especially when he has no scientific method to approach things. Like the Christmas episode when he had to resort to physicality (HUGGING!) because he couldn’t express his gratitude enough through material gifts.

And he’s a Vulcan. He has to go through Pon Farr SOMETIME.
